Set up app blocking and usage access on Android.

Android

On Android, Milo The Pup can block selected apps while a focus session is running.

Set up app blocking

  1. Open Milo The Pup Settings.
  2. Tap Usage access and allow Milo The Pup.
  3. Optional: enable Accessibility for Milo The Pup. This helps the app detect app changes faster.
  4. Return to Milo The Pup and start a session with at least one app selected.

When you open a blocked app, Milo The Pup shows a blocking screen until the focus period ends, you pause, or you stop the session.

Usage Access is also needed for Top apps today on Home.

Available on Android

  • Focus timers, breaks, and cycles
  • App blocking during focus sessions
  • Top apps today
  • History and insights
  • Notifications
  • Home-screen widget
  • Milo The Pup Plus purchases and restore

Scheduled rules

You can create and save rules on Android. Automatic blocking at scheduled times is not available yet. Scheduled blocking currently works on iPhone only.

Troubleshooting

  • Reopen Usage Access and confirm Milo The Pup is allowed.
  • Make sure you selected at least one app.
  • Try enabling Milo The Pup Accessibility access.
  • Return to Milo The Pup after changing permissions.
  • Some phone makers restrict background services. Remove battery restrictions for Milo The Pup if blocking stops when the app is in the background.
