Focus sessions
Start a timer, block distracting apps, and take planned breaks.
Focus sessions
A focus session alternates between focus time and short breaks.
Start a session
- Tap Focus session on Home.
- Pick a focus length, break length, and number of cycles.
- Choose the apps to block.
- Tap Start.
You can choose 15, 25, 45, or 60 minutes of focus time. Breaks can be 3, 5, 10, or 15 minutes.
During a session
- Pause: Pauses the timer. Android allows blocked apps until you resume; iPhone keeps the current Screen Time block active.
- Break: Blocked apps are available during break time.
- Stop: Ends the session early and saves the focus time you completed.
- Finish: The session ends after your final focus period.
Milo The Pup can notify you when a focus period or break ends. Turn on Focus reminders in Settings.
Stop challenge
You can make it harder to quit early. Open Settings → Require challenge to stop, then choose:
- Quick math: Solve a few questions.
- Touch grass: Use the camera outdoors.
- Push-ups: Complete a chosen number of reps on camera.
The challenge appears only when you stop before the session finishes. Camera challenges need camera permission. Quick math works offline.
If app blocking does not work
- iPhone: Allow Screen Time access and test on a real iPhone.
- Android: Allow Usage Access. Accessibility access is optional but makes app detection faster.
- Make sure you selected at least one app before starting.
